Welcome to Labad's Mediterranean Cafe and Grocery, a charming oasis located at 1727 Penn Ave in the heart of Pittsburgh's vibrant Strip District. This delightful cafe combines the warmth of a family-owned business with the rich flavors of Mediterranean cuisine, creating a unique experience that is sure to delight both locals and visitors alike.

At Labad’s, the spotlight shines on their authentic gyros, hailed as some of the best in the city. Each gyro features succulent, freshly sliced meat enveloped in a warm, fluffy pita, complemented by a perfect balance of fresh toppings. Customers rave about the flavors, with Erin Benz exclaiming, “The owner is so nice and friendly! Need help with a recipe? He's your guy.” Such personal attention speaks volumes about the community-oriented spirit that Labad’s embodies.

As you stroll by, keep an eye out for their beloved sidewalk gyro stand. Imagine walking up to a friendly face who is preparing your meal right in front of you—a sensory experience that elevates the already satisfying act of eating. Kayleigh McCormick describes this scene beautifully: “On some weekends, they have a cart outside their store, and will make the gyros right in front of you. Piping hot and delicious.” At just $10 for a generous portion, you can indulge without breaking the bank, making it a fantastic value in today's dining landscape.

However, the delights don’t stop at gyros. Don’t miss out on their baklava, which has garnered rave reviews from dessert lovers like Gabe Murray, who claims it to be “probably the best baklava I've ever had.” The combination of sweet, flaky layers and nuts creates a heavenly treat that is simply irresistible.

The atmosphere at Labad's is infused with friendliness and genuine hospitality, ensuring every visit feels special. The staff's warmth and personal touch create a welcoming space where you can not only indulge in delectable food but also engage in meaningful conversations. Simeon Klimasewski captures this essence perfectly: “The best gyros in Pittsburgh? Yes. Best prices? Yes. Friendliest? Absolutely.”

On some weekends they have a cart outside there store, and will make the gyros right in front of you. Piping hot and delicious. $10 for a huge gyro with lots of meat is a great deal these days. Family owned store, with very personable service. The store carries a lot of special ingredients you can't find elsewhere. You get a great value and can feel good about supporting a local business.
